About

Donovan Village features 62 modern villas, nestled amongst natural bushland where mature trees and the landscape have been retained to reflect the unique foothills setting.

The village offers a range of villas from two-bedroom units to three two-bedroom units with one or two-carports & visitor parking. The community spirit involves keeping an eye out for each other; when folks are on holiday they can do so with a greater peace of mind.

With onsite parking for caravans when available, Donovan Village allows residents to pursue a carefree lock and leave lifestyle. The village’s proximity to transport, medical facilities, shopping and recreational activities makes Donovan the ideal retirement location.

The onsite Brian Jackson Community Centre features a library, fully equipped gym and a large outdoor area ideal for barbecues and alfresco dining, that residents can take full advantage of, especially during the warm season.  Residents are invited to participate in the lifestyle programs that suit their own needs.

A range of resident activities take place in the centre including regular dinner nights, carpet bowls and card games. The Village bus is available for weekly shopping trips and regular social outings.

The available social activities within the Village provide something for everyone. There is a communal vegetable garden that many residents share and enjoy. Residents tend and nurture the gardens throughout the year. A soup day is held once in a while to raise money for the garden. It is a community garden in the true sense of the word.

For those non-gardener individuals, there is a group of residents that gather each week to knit garments to donate to people in need. One of our residents said,

“We meet every Monday morning and it’s a real social event. We don’t need to knit anything for ourselves, so we partnered with St Vincent de Paul Society and Ngala Early Parenting and Earl Childhood. That way we can help refugees, foster children and others who may need to keep warm”.

And it’s not just gardening and knitting that gathers residents together. For the past five years a group of artists have been gathering weekly to attend an art workshop held by a village resident who said  “It’s a great time to paint, socialise and enjoy a cup of coffee together.”

Our resident’s comments on life in Donovan Village make it the perfect place to enjoy retirement living.

Village residents also have access to the in home support services of Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc’s Home Care team, who can assist with ensuring that residents continue to remain independent for as long as they are able. On a user pays basis, the support team provide services to give you a hand around the home, including vacuuming, cleaning, washing and mopping to keep your house looking spick and span. Our staff can also help you with shopping and meal preparation, to keep you eating well and keeping healthy.

Donovan Village is co-located with a 65-bed residential care facility in Jeremiah Donovan House, which provides Village residents with a smooth transition into permanent residential care should the need arise. If a suitable place arises and there is a need for one, residents in the village may be offered first choice. Donovan Respite Centre is also in the same location, offering day and night support for dementia specific clients.
