Eliza Purton Home

Provided by Respect Aged Care

About

Eliza Purton Home is a 96-bed facility with a secure dementia unit, located on a hill overlooking the town of Ulverstone with spectacular views of the Leven River, surrounding mountains and the ocean.

The Eliza Purton Home was officially opened in 1964 on land generously donated by Ulverstone local William Purton. The home is named after Mr Purton’s beloved mother, Eliza.

Rooms

There are four types of rooms available: standard, premium, deluxe & superior. All rooms have private ensuites. The dementia units occupy the newer portion.

The original home was built in 1964 with extra wings added in 1995 and a major renovation completed in 2021.

Team Structure

Eliza Purton is one of the biggest employers on the northwest coast of Tasmania. Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24-hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents.

We offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of services including:

Provided Services

With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents.

Dedicated specialists like physiotherapists, podiatrists and optometrists are available upon request and make frequent visits. Hairdressers come in weekly and are available by appointment.

Food & Diet

A dedicated catering department cooks everything fresh, ready to serve, in-house. Residents give feedback regularly, with menus rotated seasonally. Menu options are offered in accordance with what residents want and are supported by dieticians. Fresh food arrives throughout the week and is provided locally through the Oscar Hospitality Program.

Activities & Excursions

Regular meetings are held by residents to help determine what programs and social activities are offered. Bus trips to surrounding countryside and other places of interest happen a couple times a month. Regular visits with a Registered Music Therapist are also organised for the enjoyment of our residents.
