Having the freedom to make choices helps you feel at home. And that’s what Uniting Wontama is all about.

Household Living – our innovative approach to care – empowers you to live your day, your way, just as you would in any family home.

There are 7 separate households, each with 18–26 residents. Our Uniting Homemakers ensure that the community is thriving and doing things that are meaningful and enjoyable.

Types of care

You'll have round-the-clock support to help manage your health, medication and personal care needs. There's a Registered Nurse on site 24/7, and a range of allied health professionals can address specific needs.

It’s a big decision, but sometimes, moving into an aged care home is the best way to get the help and support you need.

We think of ourselves as part of your extended family, working together to create a loving, caring and supportive environment – so you can settle in easier and feel right at home.

Keep in mind that there can be a waitlist for a place, so we recommend planning in advance. Need a place immediately? Get in touch.

We build trusting relationships with residents who are living with dementia, and work in partnership with their family to create environments and routines that feel safe, familiar, and loving.

In addition to the clinical and allied health services that residents need, we have:

  • Memory Support Unit – Secure environment with personalised care for people living with dementia
  • Specialised dementia care – Our carers receive ongoing training and are supported by internal and external specialists.
  • Accessible garden paths
  • Sensory garden
  • Rooms to reminisce – Also known as a ‘retro room’, this multi-sensory space is decorated with familiar objects and furnishings that evoke happy memories for residents.
  • Quiet room – For added privacy, this peaceful room provides an alternative to the communal lounge areas, and is ideal for spending time with loved ones, or listening to soothing music.
  • Opportunities to engage with animals
  • Therapeutic activities.

At Uniting Wontama, we offer pre-booked respite, so you can schedule your or your loved one's stay with us in advance, in case you have anything booked in over the coming weeks or months. Also, a week or two of respite with us is a good way to experience what our home is like before moving in.

Our respite care is all about improving the wellbeing of both carers and their loved ones.

For carers, you’ll have less stress knowing your loved ones are in expert hands, and more time to relax or get things done. Self-care, by taking time out just for you, is so important for your health, and increases your energy and patience to care for others.

For respite residents, you’ll enjoy a change of scene and appreciate the community that’s central to every Uniting aged care home. Your social and emotional wellbeing is nurtured through stimulating recreational activities and engaging conversations with other residents and our caring team.

Availability varies, so please get in touch to find out how we can help.
