True to their name, both Lakeside Lodge and Lakeside Aged Care facility are nestled on the banks of Smyth Lake. A shared gum tree covered park is their boundary fence. Both facilities are striking for their welcoming and relaxed home style and embrace of their natural surroundings. Lakeside Aged Care facility was built in a unique 'cluster' design of three separate houses, each brought together by a central courtyard that serves as the ‘town square’ where residents meet for organised activities or for a chat and a coffee.

At the heart of Bassendean Lodge is an old Uniting Church that was preserved as the dining room and part of the reception area.
