Founded by the Anglican Church Diocese in May 1969, St John’s has been an integral part of the Wangaratta community for over 50 years. This expansive home is situated in an idyllic, leafy setting on the banks of Three Mile Creek.

Room Options

146 beds, including dementia specific areas

Divided into 5 wings. Most rooms have full ensuite, whilst other units have personal toilets and hand basins with a private shower facility in the unit.

Team Structure

Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses, endorsed enrolled nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24-hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents and their families.

Provided Services

With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents such as providing a sewing space for residents who love to sew, or an an art space for a resident artist.

Dedicated specialist services such as physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists and dietitians are included in the accommodation costs. Optometrists and hearing specialists make frequent visits.

A fully functioning hairdressing salon is available on-site for residents’ use. Appointments can be made directly with the hairdressers.

Food & Diet

Our chefs ensure that healthy and balanced meal choices are always available and prepared on-site, 7 days a week. Meals can also be tailored to fit any dietary requirements. The menu is rotated seasonally and fresh food arrives throughout the week.

Activities & Excursions

Various activities are held daily in the Village Hall, auditorium and lounge rooms, including: art therapy, indoor bowls, memory/word games, pampering, gentle exercises, Tai Chi, card games and bingo. The cafe is held every Wednesday afternoon, there is a weekly shopping trolley and happy hours. Leisure and lifestyle staff arrange outings for meals and events. A workshop group is hosted every week in a fully equipped workshop and there are vegetable gardens for residents with a green thumb.
