Aged care crisis a vote changer, poll shows
Three quarters of Australians say that the need for more Federal aged care funding will sway the way they vote at the next election, a new national poll shows.
More than one in three say the issue will strongly influence their voting intention, according to the national survey conducted by the Australian Research Group.
“These survey results send a clear message to both parties that they ignore the funding of aged care at their peril,” Greg Mundy, Aged Care Industry Council spokesman, said.
“By 2040 people aged over 65 will make up 21% of the population. The aged care sector is facing an impending crisis as an army of ageing people march towards a system that will be incapable of coping with the increasing level of demand.”
