Aged Care Panels lose funding
The Government has announced a ‘refocusing’ of service provision by GPs in aged care facilities.
It will end funding for the Aged Care Panels, via the Divisions of General Practice, replacing it with:
* an incentive payment via Medicare to encourage more service provision in aged care; and
* a payment for clinical care provided by allied health professionals to residential aged care facilities where these services are not currently covered by Medicare or other government funding arrangements.
Guidelines have not yet been finalised for the changes.
