Australia 2020 Summit – background papers launched

The Australia 2020 Summit has launched background papers which will frame the discussion in each stream.

The Summit – to be held at Parliament House, Canberra on 19 and 20 April – will bring together a diverse and talented range of people to put forward their ideas for Australia’s future.

The Australia 2020 Summit will harness the best ideas across the nation, in a forum for free and open public discussion in which there are no wrong answers.

The background papers have been prepared by the Steering Committee of the Australia 2020 Summit in consultation with ministerial co-chairs and their departments and explore the themes set out in each stream.

They cover topics ranging from climate change to the future of our cities, from Australia’s ageing population to family carer responsibilities, from skills shortages to the intergenerational change in rural and regional communities.

Australians, whether selected as a participant or not, are encouraged to contribute their ideas and ambitions to the 2020 Summit by making a submission to one of the 10 critical discussion areas.

All of the key issues and ideas from the submissions and associated events will form part of the discussions at the 2020 Summit in Canberra on 19 and 20 April.
