South Australia’s aged care provider, Resthaven, has received a building excellence award for its landmark $24 million, state of the art, residential aged care facility in the state’s south.
Resthaven Mount Gambier recently received the Master Builders SA 2012 Building Excellence Award for Excellence in Retirement Living/Aged Care for Badge Constructions. The awards celebrate South Australia’s best building, construction and renovation projects.
Designed by Brown Falconer Group and constructed by Badge Constructions, Resthaven Mount Gambier is located in the heart of the town’s centre, providing direct links to local services and shops.
The building incorporates facilities for high, low, respite and specialist dementia care, as well as premium retirement apartments. It features a café, hairdressing salon, a multi-function hall, and external spaces designed for sensory enjoyment and engaging public art.
The contemporary and efficient building embodies practical, high value, sustainable technologies, including rainwater capture and reuse, solar hot water and heat-reclaiming air-conditioning.
Resthaven chief executive, Richard Hearn, was delighted with the award, stating: “Resthaven Mount Gambier offers an outstanding standard of accommodation in a terrific location.
“We are pleased to be able to offer the high standard of residential facility and service for older residents of the Limestone Coast, in addition to our established home care services.”
