Dawn Fraser runs for NSW Parliament aiming for the seniors’ vote

Australian swimming legend, and latterly ‘Dancing with the Stars’ competitor, Dawn Fraser, is running for NSW Sate Parliament at the age of 69. She was previously the independent member for Balmain for one term.

This time she is standing as for an upper house seat as an independent at the election on 24 March, and needs only five percent of the vote to be elected, as it is a proportional representation system of voting.

Dawn Fraser believes she can add value to Parliament by representing senior citizens whose total numbers in NSW are well over the five precent required to be elected.

She mentioned public transport reforms to help older people more safely use the systems, a better hospital system and continued work if older people wanted to, as issues she would promote. She would also be a personal example of “growing older with vitality”.
