Fatter face better
An American study has found that people over 40 look younger if they have a fatter looking face.
The study, conducted by the Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and reported by National Seniors, examined facial ageing in 186 pairs of identical twins.
It found that twins aged over 40 whose body mass index (BMI) was higher by four points looked younger in the face.
The results were published in the April edition of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal and it stated that to maintain a youthful appearance as ageing continued, more weight was needed on the face.
It found the opposite applied to those aged under 40.
Smoking, sun exposure and depression were other factors that contributed to ageing in the face.
