Grey Nomads to fill Skills Shortage

Grey Nomads could fill chronic skills shortages in Australia’s tourism industry. They could combine work with travel by working temporarily in tourism resorts as they move around Australia.

Tony Charters, a tourism futures conference convenor in Melbourne, said retirees, who often travel for over half a year for years at a time who would be keen to supplement their income.

A Centrelink spokesman said Grey Nomads could take advantage of
flexible rules to enhance their holiday. “It is possible to suspend a
pension for up to three months and then restore it when employment ends without having to restart the whole pension claim process.”
