‘Hot’ clothing to boost wellbeing

When a big national retailer dropped a knit dress loved by many older women from its line, Roz Evans from Sydney decided to take the plunge to continue to provide these women with the popular garment.
She launched an internet based clothing company ‘Hot Mumuz’ which sells the authentic knit dress, a printed polyester/cotton dress available in sizes 10-26.
The dress comes in a variety of colourful prints and is a favourite with mature aged women because of its comfortable fit.
“People tell me that it is the only dress they can wear, how comfortable the garment is and that it is the only thing that stands the industrial washing machine in their nursing home,” says Ms Evans, who has worked in the clothing industry for 30 years in both retail and manufacturing.
Hot Mumuz targets women aged 60 years and over, many of whom live in aged care facilities.
“In the market, post menopausal women are not catered for. Their shape changes but they can’t find clothes that fit properly because the industry only provides for young people,” Ms Evans says.
The authentic knit dress is not restrictive around the waist and has a flattering cut. It has a mock button front and the extended shoulder gives a short sleeve look, but with more comfort. The easy care knit fabric makes for a stretchy and comfortable garment.
An added feature of the dress is the split back finish to make the garment easier to put on. This feature is ideal for women with mobility problems who have difficulty in bending or raising their arms. Hot Mumuz offers the split back with a machine finish at no extra cost.
While Ms Evans (pictured wearing a Hot Mumuz dress) will continue to nurture the initial style of the dress she has plans for a supplementary style and envisions a whole range of apparel designed for mature aged ladies.
Many women have shared their concerns about the current retailers not catering for them or their mums, according to Ms Evans.
“I can see this market growing and really feel passionate about talking to people about what their needs are. It’s all about wellbeing. If your garment fits well, you feel better. It puts a smile on your face,” she says.
The authentic knit dress retails for $22 each plus postage. Free shipping for those for order three dresses or more. For more information about Hot Mumuz authentic knit dress visit www.hotmumuz.com.au or the Hot Mumuz Facebook page. Orders can me made online, by phone, fax or mailed.
