Maggie Beer’s aged care education program goes national
Continuing on from the success of last year’s pilot, the Maggie Beer Foundation is going national with its hands-on education program for aged care cooks and chefs.
The 'Creating An Appetite For Life’ Education Program is a two day opportunity said to inspire and challenge ideas of how to create nutritious, full flavoured, low cost meals within an aged care home.
The program, held in Sydney on 21 and 22 March, is now open to all aged care cooks and chefs Australia wide.
Particpants will hear from a range of industry experts including Peter Morgan Jones, Executive Chef and Food Ambassador from HammondCare about nutritious ingredients, food budgeting, supplier relationships, aged care specific recipes, menus and dining room management.
Ms Beer is passionate about changing the food experience for older Australian and the Maggie Beer Foundation is working with aged care homes to educate and facilitate “the food we all deserve, no matter what age”.
Last year’s program participant, Toni Chubb, looks back at a fantastic couple of days with her “mind running a million miles an hour, trying to get my head around all the wonderful ideas that each and every one of us brought to the table”.
“A huge thank you to Maggie and her dedicated and passionate team for giving us the opportunity to experience this journey, and for reigniting the passion in us to know that we can make a difference.”
Applications for the 'Creating An Appetite For Life’ Education Program are open until 5PM (EST) Friday 5th February, 2016 and numbers are limited to 30 participants.
