Meet the world’s oldest blogger

Olive Riley, who lives north of Sydney, Australia and was born in 1899, started her blog, http://www.allaboutolive.com.au/ in February 2007.

The 107-year-old (soon turning 108) great-great-grandmother was born in the British Colony of New South Wales under the rule of Queen Victoria, two years before Australia became a nation. She loves to drink shandy.

Olive does not see well and so Mike (Olive’s friend) records Olive’s amazingly clear memories of her colourful life, and types them.

Olive: “Good afternoon everyone. This is Olive here. First, I want to thank all of you who visited my blob.”

Mike: “It’s a blog, Ollie. Not a blob.”

Olive: “Oh, really?”

Mike: “Anyway, blob is fine. Call it a blob if you like. (I’m Mike, the helper/typist.)

Olive: “Anyway, as I was saying I want to thank all those who have sent me nice messages.

“Especially thanks to Maria from Italy, Lorant in France, Chuckles in Texas, Paul from Scotland, Kerri from New York and Ravi in India.

“It’s hard to understand you writing to me from all those countries. I don’t understand it really, to be honest.”
