The Villa Maria & Transurban Out & About Family Fun Day celebrates people of all ages and abilities.

Villa Maria, one of Victoria’s largest and oldest disability and aged care services providers, is excited to announce international road network developer and manager Transurban will be the principal sponsor of this year’s award winning Out & About Family Fun Day.

The event, which is taking place on 30 November, will be known as the 'Villa Maria and Transurban Out & About Family Fun Day'.

The collaboration ensures the event at Albert Park will be a major showcase of accessible activities and a wonderful day out for everyone.

With thanks to the State Sport Centres Trusts, activities will include all-abilities sports and activities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and an all abilities walk around Albert Park.

There will also be a pop up sensory garden, all abilities flash mob, live music, animal farm, roving entertainers, face painting and a great Aussie sausage sizzle.

Rebecca Ryan, Villa Maria executive manager marketing, says the not for profit organisation is thrilled to have Transurban’s support as they shared a focus on promoting social inclusion, connecting communities and enhancing mobility.

“We are thrilled to have Transurban on board as principal sponsor to help us celebrate accessible communities and enable everyone to live life as it should be – 100% accessible,” Ms Ryan says.

“With Transurban’s support, the Family Fun Day will be a fantastic event and we encourage everyone to get involved, no matter their age or ability.”

Ayllie White, Transurban’s head of public affairs, says the Transurban team is looking forward to providing support to the Family Fun Day in the lead up to and on the day.

“We are delighted to be working with Villa Maria to deliver this award winning Out and About Family Fun Day in November,” Ms White says.

“We work to connect communities through transport, and the event is very much in line with our aim to increase social inclusion by improving mobility.”

The event also promotes Villa Maria’s Australian first accessibility app, Out & About – Accessing Your Community, which lists accessible venues and events across Melbourne.

Available for iPhone, the app will also be released for Android in October. The Out & About App and Family Fun Day won the 2014 Victorian Disability Sector Award for Excellence in Improving Participation.
