New aged care home opens for Hume community
Service provider Baptcare has opened its latest facility, a new 90-bed residential aged care home in Melbourne’s Westmeadows.
Baptcare Brookview Community was officially opened by Member of Parliament for Broadmeadows, Frank McGuire and Hume City Councillor Karen Sherry on 1 March 2018.
The new home will offer a family friendly and multicultural environment with government supported places available, reaffirming Baptcare’s commitment of supporting people of all backgrounds.
“Baptcare Brookview Community will improve the outcomes for the ageing in Westmeadows and respond to local aged care needs,” Baptcare Board Chair, Robina Bradley said.
“We firmly believe that everyone deserves to age with dignity and in a place that they know and love. With Baptcare Brookview Community we are excited to be able to provide just that.”
Residents at the new community will receive care from a highly experienced, nursing-led team, including Registered Nurses who will provide care on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Residents will enjoy several shared areas, such as a large outdoor terrace with views over Broadmeadows Valley Park, a large courtyard garden, indoor walkways, an on-site hairdresser, bright dining rooms and lounges where many activities will be available for residents to enjoy.
Nurse Unit Manager for Baptcare Brookview Community, Manpreet Dhaliwal said she is excited to be a part of the multicultural environment offered at the new home.
“We offer a multicultural environment at Baptcare where family is an important part of everything we do. We have strong values, respect those around us and offer the best of care. It is a workplace where honesty and hard work is appreciated and promoted, and I feel proud to be part of this new opportunity to care for the elderly in a new community,” said Ms Dhaliwal.
The $160 million broader development of the Westmeadows site is a partnership between the State Government of Victoria, residential developers Frasers and Baptcare.
The project also delivers:
- 110 new social housing homes;
- 34 independent living units for older residents co-located with the aged facility;
- more than 200 new private homes for sale; and
- new landscaped parks, bike and pedestrian paths, and improved community facilities.
