New WA laws crack down on doctor registration
The WA Government has introduced new laws to govern the way doctors are registered. Doctors will face a more stringent registration process and the medical board will be given the power to deal with patient complaints.
If there is a risk of harm or injury, the board will be able to suspend a doctor’s registration. In serious cases, doctors can be fined up to $25,000 and stopped from practising permanently.
