Older US consumers go online to check out ageing-in-place

As America’s population ages, an entire industry has developed to help seniors maintain active lifestyles in their own homes. Naturally online advice is offered, according to a US Iconoculture report.

AgeInPlace.com, which has been supported by the national seniors group AARP, promises “better plan: better life” to help older consumers.

“Are the light fixtures accessible? Will the halls and doorways handle a wheelchair? are questions that AgeInPlace.com  advises to help older consumers plan ahead, whether they’re looking to retrofit a home for ageing parents or for their own future needs.

It offers a free personal assessment after visitors answer a series of online questions about their home and physical abilities. A Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) reviews each submission and returns a customised report with recommended modifications.
