The Good Lives Free Community Information Day, to be held at ACH Group’s Milpara Residential Care home, will bring together a range of experts to answer questions on everything aged care in a relaxed, family friendly environment.

Milpara Manager Graham Harding says ACH Group recognises that navigating aged care can be a “daunting and complex” task.

“We want to bring people together in a relaxed setting so that they can ask questions and seek advice from people who understand the complexities,” he says.

“Often people find that aged care is a complex system to navigate. We know that people are actively looking for information.

“This open day will be a one stop shop for people to come in and find out information about aged care to make that decision making process much easier.”

Experts will be available on the day to discuss navigating aged care services, health services for maintaining independence at home, planning ahead services, understanding finances, retirement housing, specialist dementia services and local community groups and activities open to older people.

The Royal Automobile Association (RAA) will be available to provide motoring advice for older drivers, while representatives from Chemist King will be providing pharmaceutical advice.

Local radio station Radio Italiana 531am will broadcast live from the event. Local chef and nutritionist Mel Haynes will also run a live cooking demonstration on how to make healthier meals, while also sharing some healthy recipe ideas.

The event will run from 11am until 2pm. Registrations can be made by phoning 1300 224 477 or by visiting the ACH Group website before Friday, May 26.
