The ability to make a facility a home was just one of the factors which led to Western Australia’s aged care provider, Regis Forrest Gardens, being named Outstanding Facility of the Year at the organisation’s annual National Staff Awards Gala Dinner held in Melbourne recently.
The Bunbury aged care home received the highest accolade for leading aged care provider the Regis Group, with the award proudly accepted by facility manager, Fiona Piggott, on behalf of staff and residents.
“The team at Forrest Gardens is very proud of this award and whilst it is a very big surprise, we are thrilled to be recognised for [our] hard work in making [the] facility a real home for residents, their families and fellow colleagues,” Ms Piggott said.
The Outstanding Facility of the Year Award was based on six major performance criteria which included: resident care, staff coaching and development, overall financial performance, innovation, compliance and marketing.
Despite professional and technical criteria, communicating with residents on a personal level contributed to the team’s success.
“Optimism, passion, integrity and respect are integral to everything we do and this award reinforces these actions,” Ms Piggott said.
Regis Group WA State operations manager, Shaun Zambuni, added winning the award highlighted the “hard-work, leadership, commitment and passion” shown by Regis Forrest Gardens staff.
“Regis is proud to be at the forefront of aged care and an employer of choice, and will continue to invest in both its staff and residents’ wellbeing,” Mr Zambuni said.
