SA increases Bird Flu prep funds
The SA Government is spending $1.7 million on special masks, gowns and diagnostic equipment in the event of the H5N1 bird flu virus hitting Australia. The state’s chief medical officer, Chris Baggoley, says a pandemic would need to be contained right from the start. Meanwhile, a second Indonesian teenager has died of bird flu making her Indonesia’s 44th confirmed death from avian influenza.
