Sea anemones help in treating rheumatoid arthritis

Natural compounds from a sea anemone and a shrub have been shown to treat rheumatoid arthritis, according to a report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Scientists found that the Cuban sea anemone and rue shrub plant extracts both stopped white blood cells from producing the cytokine chemicals which attack other cells and cause rheumatoid arthritis.

In separate research they found the anemone venom improved the joints of rats with arthritis.
