Sixth Hosp GP Clinic in WA
The last of Western Australia’s six public hospital GP (general practitioner) clinics has been officially opened. The Swan District Hospital now has after-hours GP services available with the aim of alleviating overcrowding in accident and emergency rooms. Local GP Steve Wilson says Australia is 3,500 GPs short and there are few incentives to increase their surgery opening hours. However, he says the new public hospital service is a step in the right direction.
