SOFIHUB provides assisted-living technology in your own home

SPONSORED STORY – Feeling safe and connected while living at home can be difficult for people as they age, but a digital companion like SOFIHUB Home is designed to encourage wellbeing and independence in its users.

Now available on DPS Shop, the device intelligently monitors older loved ones as they go about their daily business and keeps outside carers and family members in the loop.

Older people tend to develop an overreliance on their family or carers for small things, like remembering appointments, so that they have peace of mind and feel connected. However, SOFIHUB Home can provide peace of mind to both the users and their family and carers.

SOFIHUB Chief Sales Officer, Trevor Rooney, says, “This year we have seen that simple, reliable communication is more important than ever for the vulnerable in our community.

“Whether you need a little extra support later in life, want to keep active while still giving your family peace of mind or just want that extra layer of security while out and about, SOFIHUB connects you to the people you rely on, while also ensuring your personal freedom.”

DPS Shop is a SOFIHUB Authorised Seller and has partnered with the company to provide our consumers with more choice when searching for helpful technology in and around the home.

The SOFIHUB Home comes with a main hub, which would usually sit in the lounge room or kitchen area, and has eight motion sensors that can be positioned around the home to observe the movements of the user.

These motion sensors can track the movements of an individual and also remind them through the day to take medication, remind them to drink water, or let them know a doctors appointment is coming up.

SOFIHUB arrives with key routines already programmed in, including the time range the user goes to bed, when the user usually gets up, and how long they would normally spend in the bathroom.

The SOFIHUB can detect if these basic routines aren’t met, ask the user to identify if they are okay, and if there is no response after five minutes, an SMS alert message will be sent to a family member or carer.

SOFIHUB is a non-intrusive companion that doesn’t use video or audio surveillance, so users can know that they are safe without having their privacy or independence infringed on.

Additionally, family, carers and the user have access to the SOFIHUB portal, a web-based interface that includes access to reminders, patterns of behaviour, and an area to make any adjustments to the system.

SOFIHUB Home can pick up on any clinical changes in a user, has text to voice messaging, advise a person of appointments, medication times, hydration reminders, birthdays, anniversaries or other meaningful events, provide real time viewing of daily activities, and has motion or fall detection.

The company has recently added to new key updates two its product range, including Two-Way Voice and Call the Carer capabilities.

Users will now be able to initiate Two-Way Voice calling, which is hands free for the user, and will function like a speakerphone. Family members and carers can speak with their loved one quickly and efficiently.

The Call the Carer update can assist the user in contacting their carer through a non-emergency text message, asking for the carer to contact them. This message is sent by the user holding the button down on the top of the SOFIHUB Home for five seconds.

“The new updates we are announcing today are an indication of the ways we are constantly looking to evolve our products and offer more people the chance to keep their independence,” says Mr Rooney.

“We are able to showcase these innovations through our partnerships with leading retailers and suppliers like DPS and with their support, we’re making it possible for Australian’s of all ages to see and experience how smart tech solutions like SOFIHUB can help keep their loved ones at home for longer.”

SOFIHUB Home is available for purchase through the DPS Shop website.
