Partly funded out of the State Government Social Housing Investment Program, Bethanie Peel is a Community Housing project that has been undertaken in partnership with the Department of Housing and is operated by Bethanie Housing Ltd.

Adding to the first stage of Bethanie Peel, which was completed in 2015, the apartments were specifically created for older Western Australians in need of housing support.

“Many of the residents who will soon move in have never lived in a brand new home or owned their own home,” says Bethanie Chief of Business Development, Rohan Taylor.

“Ultimately, the reason why they are relying on the Department of Housing for their accommodation isn’t important. To be able to altruistically provide this level of accommodation to Western Australians in need of some support is a wonderful outcome and Bethanie is very proud of that.”

The apartments are designed and built to be affordable to those who qualify for the aged pension, with their rental contribution at just 25 percent of the pension.

Communal facilities such as a residents’ café, craft and club rooms, and lawn bowls, together with management- organised activities and functions, are intended to promote social and recreational interaction and encourage a sense of community and belonging amongst residents.

The new development is located adjacent to the Bethanie Peel Aged Care Facility and just minutes from the Mandurah Town Centre in Coodanup.
