The hard work and dedication of IRT Group was recently recognised at the 2012 Origin Illawarra Business Awards.

The seniors’ lifestyle and care organisation took home four awards, including Business of the Year and IRT Group chief executive, Nieves Murray, was also announced as Business Leader of the Year.

Ms Murray said IRT Group’s success was a wonderful achievement and a tribute to the organisation’s staff.

“I’m so proud of the team. These awards are a testament to their hard work and commitment to the organisation. Also, the recognition by the business community of the things we are doing at IRT Group ensures our vision to represent seniors as dynamic and vibrant contributors to society is given active expression in a public way,” she said.

The awards received by IRT Group included: Business of the Year; Business Leader of the Year – Nieves Murray; Excellence in Community Service; and Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety. IRT Group was also a finalist in the Excellence in Environmental Sustainability category.

Ms Murray said it had been a big year for IRT Group, with the organisation purchasing three properties on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, the expansion of IRT College and IRT Catering plus the announcement of a new corporate headquarters to be built in Wollongong.

“It’s been a year of growth and change for IRT Group, and our staff have risen to the challenge,” she said.

“We are committed to providing the best care and services we can to our customers. For a company that grew out of the passion of a community for frail, older people, with great humility, getting what we do onto the broader business radar is an important step in busting myths about aged care, seniors and non-profit organisations.”
