Many people have a special place to remember a loved one to honour their memory and a memorial provides an area of solace for family and friends over the years through both happy and sad times.

Now a South Australia cemetery is offering the opportunity to remember loved one in a unique location while supporting a local conservation charity.

The partnership between Centennial Park and Zoos SA enables families, friends and colleagues to remember loved ones in either a botanical environment at Adelaide Zoo or a more open range environment at Monarto Zoo.

Centennial Park Chief Executive Officer Janet Miller says the Zoo Memorial program shows the innovative thinking of two iconic South Australian organisations in creating a new memorial offering which combines favourite family past times and family heritage.

“This provides unique reflective spaces where future generations can
continue to visit, while also continuing long standing family traditions
of visiting the zoo,” she says. “For many families, they will be able
to take the kids to the Zoo and at the same time spend some time
reflecting on memories of cherished family members.”

Pedestal style memorials at the Adelaide Zoo can be placed in central lawn area, entry gardens and bamboo forest, while timber sleeper style memorials at Monarto Zoo can be placed in the chimpanzee, lion or giraffe area.

The zoo memorials also come with a lifetime membership for one person
and a ‘sister’ memorial at Centennial Park where ashes can be placed.
