Victorian support week on motor neurone disease from 3 May

A special motor neurone disease (MND) awareness and support week is being held in Victoria from 3 May to 9 May to help raise funds for added research to find the causes, effective treatments, and improved potential cures for MND.

MND, a rapidly progressive disease which can strike at any stage, is most common in people in their 50s and 60s, and can result in death within just two or three years.

The public are being invited to buy blue cornflowers – a symbol of hope – make a donation, offer to volunteer, and to donate blood where possible.

A donor drive where people can donate DNA samples for research will be held at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre in Preston and further information can be obtained by phoning 1800 777 175 or visiting www.mndaust.asn.au
