The District Nurses - Day Respite Centres

The District Nurses (having merged with South Eastern Community Care) operates Day Centres, across South-Eastern Tasmania, where clients have the opportunity to participate in centre-based care, social activities, meals, and outings. 

Day Centres provide respite services and relief to carers by assisting them with the provisions of their caring role. In the comfort and care of qualified staff, clients have the opportunity to create new relationships, pursue hobbies and visit local attractions in a safe and friendly environment.

Day Centre activities include crafts, games, quizzes, passive exercise, short walks, musical entertainment, guest speakers, bus trips, dining out, excursions and special events. 

Day Centres operate 09:00am – 3:00pm, Monday – Saturday. Specific programs are run on nominated days for different groups – please enquire as to which day/s are applicable to best suit your needs (subject to service availability). Transport can be arranged for clients for a fee. 

Referrals for Day Centre services may be received from health professionals, referral agencies and self-referrals. Potential clients are required to undergo a basic assessment to determine eligibility, level of need and priority of access to available services. 

Day Centre services can be accessed through government subsidised packages and programs. A current Fees Schedule, detailing relevant costs is available at request. Fees may be revised from time to time in accordance with operational requirements and cost increases – clients will be advised accordingly.
