About
Respect is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing quality residential aged care services focusing on a person-centred approach and supportive social and physical living and working environments.
Respect's Tongala Memorial is home to the world’s first Men’s Shed, opened in 1998 and named in honour of Dick McGowan, a local visionary who identified the need for men to congregate to find someone to talk to and activities to do, the concept is now a global force dedicated to pushing forth positive social change.
Tongala is known as “The Friendly Town” and is located in the Shire of Campaspe in northern Victoria, 198 kilometres north of Melbourne, 15 minutes from Kyabram and 25 minutes from Echuca. Tongala is a small rural dairying area with a history as a soldier settlement.
