Meet the team – Hayley Roberts
Introducing the people behind the scenes at DPS, the company bringing you Aged Care Guide and Talking Aged Care, to help you get to know us a little better and give insight into what we do. Next up in our Q&A series is our Client Services Star: Hayley Roberts.
How long have you been with DPS?
I’ve been with DPS Publishing for approximately a month now and have found it to be an absolute delight.
What are some of the things you’ve learnt in this role at DPS?
I’ve had the opportunity to learn just about everything in the first month! As I’m new to this sector and have come from a different career background I have learnt so much and I still have a long way to go. I consider the huge amount of effort that goes into publications and how each team/department contributes to be fascinating. I will never look at newspapers, magazines or novels the same way after starting with the company.
What is the best thing about working for DPS?
The friendly team members and the work/life balance are absolutely incredible and endearing.
What is the best thing you have worked on?
I’m currently learning the ropes, so I haven’t had the opportunity to achieve everything I know I can. With that being said, I think the induction process has been an informative journey to get there.
What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest feat would be moving my family interstate in the most trying of times in July 2021 — amidst COVID-19 and the threats of border closures, along with the housing boom, and people paying ridiculously more than the asking price.
Now, for some more lighthearted questions… Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
When I finished year 12, I went off as an exchange student and stayed in New York State for 12 months in this little town called New York Mills, near Syracuse. I experienced school life, getting involved in sports, and staying with an Italian family… Yep, I fit right in!
I got the chance to visit New York City and the Twin Towers, 12 months prior to the tragic day.
What’s the best way to start the day?
I wake up to a sunny day in complete silence — all I can hear is the rustling of the leaves and the birds singing… Ah, in the future, there may come a day when I’ll get to experience that.
What would be your ‘perfect’ day?
My perfect day would involve swimming with the sea turtles and being able to see baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea.
